Baby aspirated vitamin d drops
Just left the ER. My husband tried giving our two week old son his vitamin d drops for the first time and accidentally shot the whole thing into his mouth at once instead of drop by drop like I usually do it. Well baby choked on it and couldn't cough it back up. I called the nurse line and they told us to go in and get him checked out. His oxygen levels were good and after a good cry he got all the liquid out of his lungs but man were we scared!! My poor husband feels so guilty and doesn't even want to hold him now. I think he's just in shock. I tried to tell him that it's ok but he won't listen. He's a big softy and he took it really hard.
Anyways, be super careful with medicine or anything you're giving baby that isn't breast or bottle!!

My husband did that one night too! We lucked out and baby just spit it all back up immediacy and was fine after I calmed him down. But it was terrifying. What we do now is either i pump and mix it into the bottle. OR I take a bottle nipple, put it in his mouth and then fill it with his vitamin d drops and he swallows it down that way. Soooo much easier than doing it through the syringe.

Yes definitely just do the one drop product! So much easier. Glad he's okay.
